Power-over-Ethernet as an alternative connection variant

With the Power-over-Ethernet variant, the Controlmicro can simply be supplied with voltage via an Ethernet cable instead of using the conventional power line. The classic connection variant often involves additional challenges such as the required cabling and space for a power supply unit on the DIN rail. In addition, attention must be paid to a maximum cable run length of 10 meters from the REG power supply unit to the next sub-distribution. With the PoE variant, no separate power supply unit is required; instead, the device can be connected to a PoE switch that supplies multiple devices with power and Ethernet simultaneously.

KNX Smart Home Control with YOUVI Visualisation

Using the Controlmicro, all smart home functions can be controlled from a central location in the building with the YOUVI Basic software package. For example, you can switch buttons, dim lights, operate blinds or adjust the heating. A time function facilitates makes everyday life in the smart home easier. The visualisation included in the software package is not only easy to use, but can also be arranged individually - simply by drag & drop. The web widgets offer a flexible way to integrate websites directly into the visualisation. Control via smartphone with the free YOUVI Smart Home App is also possible in your own home network.

    Expand smart home functions flexibly

Those who want to integrate cameras for surveillance, use Alexa voice control, or create their own routines and logic or presence simulations, can flexibly expand the functional range of YOUVI Basic with add-ons. If you want to use the home control app on the go outside your home network, simply add the YOUVI Connect Modul.

    Home automation with other visualisations

The Controlmicro is a fully-fledged computer equipped with Windows 10 LTSC, which not only enables the use of all Windows and web-based visualisations (e.g. Gira QuadClient* or X1 or CubeVision from BAB-Tec), but is also suitable for browser applications, for example. Depending on the visualisation used, SIP door intercoms with video transmission, alarm systems, energy management and other smart home functions can also be shown on the high-resolution display via the KNX room controller. By integrating a music system, the Controlmicro can also take over multi-room music control.

*as of GIRA Homeserver Version 4.11, only the display in landscape format is supported

Use the Controlmicro as client or server

The direct KNX connection and the included software package make the Controlmicro a fully-fledged Smart Home control center and independent server for smaller projects such as single family homes. External IP router hardware or an additional server can then be dispensed with. Alternatively, the KNX control panel can be used as a client with an external server (e.g. Gira X1).

Smart home solution for permanent operation

The use of high-quality industrial components ensures long-lasting operation, even during continuous use. The construction does not have any moving parts and is therefore not only maintenance-free but also silent. Protection against breakdowns is provided by the sophisticated heat management system. This helps to ensure even heat dissipation over the entire panel front - without any streaking on the wall.

    Integrated ambient light and senors

Integrated sensors for CO2 and brightness, measure the air quality and ensure a balanced screen brightness. A proximity sensor switches the 8-inch TFT full-color screen on only when required. Another design highlight is the LED backlighting on the frame, which can be used, for example, to pick up on certain lighting moods or to display various statuses in the building control system.

Timeless elegance in the smart home

The processing of high-quality materials, such as aluminum and glass, not only supports heat dissipation, but also gives the Controlmicro a noble appearance. The high-quality aluminum frame, milled from one piece, is available in a matte black finish with a black front glass or silver in combination with a white front glass. This allows the smart home panel to be ideally matched to the room interior. Additionally it can be monted flexible in portrait or landscape format.

Create logics in combination with the Controlmicro LEDs

Combined with the Controlmicro's coloured LEDs, sensor values can be displayed in different colours - a simple information with a signalling effect. Various scenarios can thus be implemented:

Signal colour or traffic light system
Depending on the integrated sensors and routines, you can use the LEDs as a warning by lighting them up in a signal colour in certain situations. Alternatively, you can, for example, create a traffic light system to visually show the current value: Set three ranges and have the Controlmicro light up in green, yellow, or red depending on the current value.

    Photovoltaic system
Keep an eye on the power produced: If the power produced rises above a predefined threshold, the LEDs on the Controlmicro turn green. At a glance you see whether the current production is sufficient to turn on the washing machine, for example. In addition, you can also create a traffic light system for the generated power in the logic module. Exact values are shown in the visualisation or in the mobile app.

    Rain gauge
If you use a rain gauge, it is also possible to have the Controlmicro light up in red, for example, when a predefined limit is exceeded, and you should check if there is water in the cellar.

    Open window
If you have equipped your windows with certain window contacts, this signal can also be included in a logic routine. Thus, you can see directly via the Controlmicro LEDs when a window in the house is open.

    Air humidity
In this scenario, the Controlmicro lights up in a signal colour when your air humidity sensor in the cellar exceeds a threshold value.

    Installation

The Controlmicro can be easily mounted over a switch box with a standard screw spacing of 60 mm and a minimum depth of 35 mm. This makes the KNX touch panel well suited for retrofitting, as no subsequent chiselling work is required. Depending on preference, the display can be mounted in either portrait or landscape format and secured with anti-theft protection.
